| Many of our previous guests have made various suggestions in our guest book, I hope to address some of these suggestions here. Q. Could you supply a 'welcome pack' of groceries? A. We did some research into this idea, but due to cost we decided against it, mainly because we need to pay someone to go shopping and then deliver the groceries to the villa; this would mean that $25 worth of groceries would cost more than $40 to the guest. This may look like we are profiteering on the groceries. There is a 'Winn Dixie' supermarket less than a 2 minute drive from the villa, just as you turn into Formosa Gardens Blvd from the 192 it is over on the right, we suggest that guests stop off there on their way to the villa and pick up those essentials before they arrive. Q. Can I leave any food for the next guests? It's such a waste to throw it all away! A. I'm afraid that we can't take the chance that the food left behind may be past it's 'use-by' date. We don't want any guests with upset tummies; and we ensure that the whole villa, especially the kitchen, is spotlessly clean. Q. Could you supply a couple of bicycles for the kids? A. It's not the initial outlay that prevents us from doing this, it would be about $200. The problem would be in ongoing maintenance and the accident probability. If we supplied bicycles we would be legally obliged to ensure that they were perfectly maintained 100% of the time, this would mean inspections on a daily basis, costing $40 a time. There are also other legal implications that make this idea a non-starter. Q. Could you supply a 'List of Defects' for incoming guests so that they are aware of any previous mishaps and thus assured that they won't be penalised for an existing defect from their security deposit? A. This is a very good idea! No matter how good our cleaners are and how hard we try to keep the villa in a pristine condition, it is, after all, a home for many different families through most of the year. I'm afraid that accidents do happen and this villa is as prone to them as every home is, we call it wear & tear!? If you notice something whilst at the villa please call our managers (freecall) and they will assure you that all is well. A list of defects in the villa would very soon be out of date as each defect is rectified as soon as possible. Q. Why can't you ensure that there is always gas for the BBQ? A. Many villa owners charge $25 per week to rent a gas BBQ, at this rate they are making a very healthy profit on their investment and can afford the $40 call-out charge for their management company to deliver a new bottle every time a guest calls them to tell them the bottle is empty. Our BBQ is free to our guests, we operate a simple method called 'Pot Luck'; if when you come to use the BBQ there is no gas, simply take the empty bottle to the nearest gas station and get a re-fill for about $15. It's better value for money for our guests. Please feel free to enter your constructive suggestions in our guest book in the villa. Fiona & John Dowd |
